Obiettivi formativi
L’insegnamento intende fornire gli strumenti di base per la descrizione e l’analisi della sintassi del tedesco, prestando particolare attenzione alla dislocazione dei costituenti dal punto di vista della struttura informazionale della frase con l’aiuto del modello descrittivo dei campi topologici. In particolare, si presterà attenzione al periodo complesso mettendo in evidenza il valore e l’uso dei vari tempi e modi verbali nei diversi tipi di frase complessa. Su questa base si forniranno agli studenti gli ingredienti essenziali per procedere all’analisi contrastiva di alcuni aspetti della morfosintassi italo-tedesca che verrà svolta per mezzo di un lavoro individuale definito durante il corso.
The course aims at providing the basic conceptual tools needed for the description and the analysis of the German syntax, paying particular attention to the dislocation of the constituents from the viewpoint of the information structure of the sentence with the help of the descriptive model of the topological fields. In particular, it will focus on the complex sentence by reflecting on the value and the usage of the different tenses and moods as they are employed in the different types of complex sentence. On this basis, the students will get acquainted with the basic ingredients necessary to proceed to a contrastive analysis of some aspects of the Italian and German morphosyntax which will be carried out by means of an individual work defined during the course.

Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
Gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di descrivere le strutture sintattiche della lingua tedesca, in particolare tenendo presente il modello dei campi topologici, e di esporre con una terminologia adeguata gli aspetti salienti concernenti la rilevanza del ruolo svolto dal verbo come elemento centrale della frase in relazione soprattutto ai cosiddetti Satzbaupläne e ai vari procedimenti formali che hanno effetti sulla codifica dei costituenti dipendenti dal verbo (passivo, anti-causativo, ecc.). Gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di fornire una rappresentazione complessiva del sistema sintattico del tedesco, incluso il periodo complesso, oltre che di delineare in maniera adeguata alcuni aspetti dell’analisi contrastiva italo-tedesca.
Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione e autonomia di giudizio
Gli studenti saranno messi in grado di sviluppare autonomia e flessibilità nella comprensione e nell’analisi delle strutture sintattiche con l’aiuto degli strumenti di analisi tradizionalmente adottati in linguistica come l’analisi in costituenti e campi topologici. Inoltre, gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di analizzare la dislocazione dei costituenti dal punto della struttura informazionale della frase mettendo l’accento sull’interfaccia sintassi/pragmatica, e di analizzare i diversi tipi di frase complessa mettendo in evidenza il valore e l’uso dei vari tempi e modi verbali. Potranno quindi rispondere a domande di tipo interpretativo e non nozionistico sul sistema sintattico del tedesco, sviluppando analisi autonome, anche in un’ottica contrastiva.
Abilità comunicative
Gli studenti dovranno dimostrare di saper esaminare comparativamente e criticamente temi ed argomentazioni comprendendone adeguatamente concetti, struttura e contesti.
Capacità di apprendimento
Gli studenti dovranno mostrare di individuare autonomamente percorsi di approfondimento disciplinare, utilizzando nozioni e metodologie della linguistica, sia in prospettiva sincronica che contrastiva, e delle discipline affini. Dovranno ricercare materiali e fonti per l’approfondimento e saper utilizzare strumenti bibliografici, sia in forma tradizionale che in formato elettronico.
Knowledge and understanding
The students will be required to describe the syntactic structures of the German language, in particular adopting the theoretical model of the topological fields, and to expose with an adequate terminology the relevant role played by the verb as a core element of the sentence especially with regard to the so-called Satzbaupläne and to the several formal procedures which have an effect on the encoding of the constituents depending on the verb (passive, anti-causative, etc.). The students will be required to provide a thorough representation of the German syntactic system, including the complex sentence, also adopting a contrastive perspective.
Applying knowledge and understanding and making judgements
The students will be required to develop autonomy and flexibility in the comprehension and analysis of the syntactic structures of German with the help of the conceptual tools traditionally adopted in linguistics such as the constituent analysis and the topological fields. Furthermore, the students will have to be able to analyze the dislocation of the constituents from viewpoint of the information structure of the sentences emphasizing the crucial role played by the syntax/pragmatics interface, and to analyze the different types of complex sentence paying attention to the value and the usage of the different tenses and moods. Accordingly, they will answer questions of an interpretive kind and not based on superficial factual knowledge on the German syntactic system, thereby developing autonomous analyses on that and also adopting a contrastive perspective.
Communication skills
The students will have to show to be able to comparatively and critically examine subjects and arguments comprehending concepts, structure and contexts in an adequate manner.
Learning skills
The students will have to show how to autonomously identify ways for enlarging their knowledge of the discipline, making use of notions and methodologies of linguistics, both in a synchronic and in a contrastive perspective, and of the contiguous disciplines. They will show where to search for materials and sources necessary for this goal and how to use bibliographical tools, both in traditional form and on an electronic support.

Lezioni, prevalentemente in lingua italiana, della durata di 36 ore (6 CFU), che si svolgono in aula con l’ausilio di tecnologie informatiche di supporto (slides e ulteriori materiali), che prevedono il coinvolgimento diretto degli studenti, anche per mezzo di contributi individuali.
In seguito alle limitazioni imposte dalla crisi sanitaria in corso, le lezioni saranno accessibili anche in aula virtuale con trasmissione via streaming con registrazione e caricamento di materiali didattici di supporto sulla pagina moodle.

Lessons (36 hrs./6 CFU), mainly held in Italian, taught in classroom with the support of electronic technologies (slides and further materials) stimulating the students’ direct participation and also entailing their individual contribution.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Conoscenze e capacità previste saranno verificate attraverso un colloquio orale con domande, eventualmente in modalità remota. La preparazione sarà considerata adeguata (con votazione espressa in trentesimi), se lo studente dimostrerà capacità di esposizione, ricorrendo alla terminologia necessaria; se in modo autonomo – quindi, senza dipendere dalla presentazione degli argomenti offerta dai testi – proverà familiarità con i vari argomenti e problemi esposti nel corso; se, tra questi, riconoscerà o stabilirà rapporti e collegamenti di interdipendenza; se saprà considerarli nei rispettivi livelli di analisi, ambiti e rilievi concettuali. Inoltre, gli studenti dovranno sviluppare autonomamente alcuni aspetti dell’analisi contrastiva italo-tedesco presentandone i risultati per mezzo di un contributo individuale (una tesina scritta) da far pervenire al docente prima dell'esame. Occorrerà comunque aver superato previamente la prova che verifica la conoscenza della lingua tedesca (prova di lettorato).
Knowledge and skills will be verified by means of an oral examination based on questions, possibly held in remote modality. The preparation will be considered adequate (with a vote expressed in a scale from 18 to 30), if the students will demonstrate to express themselves in an appropriate way using the necessary terminology; if they will show familiarity with the various topics and problems discussed during the course in an autonomous way – i.e., without depending in a pedestrian way on the presentation of the topics offered by the texts; if – among these – they will be able to point out relations and interdependencies; if they will be able to consider them at their respective level of analysis, domain and conceptual relevance. Furthermore, the students will develop in an autonomous way some aspects of the contrastive analysis of Italian and German, presenting the results by means of an individual contribution (a short essay) sent to the teacher before the exam. At any rate, in order to be admitted to the examination, it will be necessary to pass the test for the language certification (test of lectorate).

L’insegnamento annuale di lettorato è volto alla preparazione della prova di lettorato, che è propedeutica per l’esame orale. Il lettorato, tenuto da un collaboratore didattico madrelingua, permette di acquisire o rafforzare le conoscenze linguistiche di base. La frequenza non è obbligatoria, ma caldamente consigliata soprattutto ai principianti. Il corso ha durata annuale, con inizio a ottobre.

The annual course of lectorate is conceived as a support for preparing the test for the language certification which has to be passed before the oral examination. The lectorate, held by a mother-tongue collaborator, is not obligatory but warmly recommended especially for beginners, and is specifically aimed at students who need to acquire or reinforce their competence in German. Introduction to the description and the analysis of the German syntax. The theoretical model of the topological fields. The verb as a core element of the sentence: the so-called Satzbaupläne.
